Hi again! Welcome to round 2 of our most recent before + after project for the creative Lockwood family! For this post, we'll focus on the foyer and their hallway area and show you how a little bit of paint and editing can make a dramatic difference in a space. Round One: Foyer & Hallway Before - the foyer itself is great, it has amazing wood built-in's with a bench, it leads to a grand staircase and opens up to the family room, dining room and hallway. With all of the wood tones, the entry would tend to get a little dark and it basically served as a space to drop things as you came in. The hallway was feeling a little tight, previously that's where they would hang their coats and the built-in butler's pantry served as a space to store cookbooks and various china. Our goal was to brighten the space up, edit, organize and find beautiful pieces to compliment the other rooms.
Round One Foyer & Hallway After: For the foyer, we're still in search of stylish hooks to help hang coats and we have plans to install Alex's amazing art above the built-in's after his show. They've always wanted a Saarinen table and we thought the entry was the perfect space for it plus the white really helps to brighten up the room! We're in love with the vintage turkish rug, it really adds personality and has pops of the sofa color throughout. We then removed everything from the hallway in order to open up the space and added a bench they already had to the entry as a place to leave shoes and eventually, hang their coats. On our first initial visit, we noticed they had pops of black throughout the house, whether it was in a light fixture or amazing wallpaper. The easiest and most effective way to really make an impact in the small hallway was to paint! Our goal was to make the space dramatic and so we decided to paint the walls black! We're in love! Even though the area is dark, removing everything and replacing with art makes the small hallway feel so much bigger! We can't wait to add more of Alex's art above the butler's pantry!
Be sure to check back later this week to see the rest of the space including the dining room and kitchen. In the meantime, if you're in need of a quick makeover, let us know and if not, no worries, we can still help! Check out our Design To Go program for more information.
