We are so excited to finally share with you the big reveal of our guest bedroom at Traditional Home's 2017 Southern Style Now Showhouse! We just returned home from the opening weekend celebration in Savannah....and are feeling so truly inspired by the AMAZINGLY talented designers featured this year, and the incredible lecture series that Robert Leleux so artfully curated! Savannah is such a magical city, so this is a perfect reason to make a trip and tour the showhouse, which runs through December 7th (get your tickets here!).
At Pencil & Paper Co. we are known for our love of "pattern, color, and playful use of scale." Our design for the showhouse was no different! We were so inspired by these gorgeous bedrooms below...the florals, the yellow, the pattern on pattern—love!
We collaborated with two of our favorites to bring it all to life, Ballard Designs and Schumacher. We quickly fell in love with this large scale floral by Schumacher (Avebury Floral Vine).....the unusually large scale and happy yellow color palette were the perfect jumping-off point, plus we love that it hasn't made it's way into print yet!
For a modern twist, we paired it with the geometric Nuba fabric in taupe, complimented by a smaller scale wallpaper (Soho Diamond Wallpaper) on the walls. And for finishing touches, we used the Astara Paisley fabric with its lovely embroidery, and two rich velvets in Safflower and Buttercup. And of course, we had to incorporate some of the gorgeous Schumacher trims...we selected the Pierre Bobble Fringe, Sabine Braid, and Colette Pleated Ruche. Once we finalized our design plan and concept boards, we worked with local artist Tess Erlenborn who created the beautiful watercolor rendering of the room.
We're such huge fans of Ballard Designs, and are true believers that beautiful design does not have to break the bank—so of course Ballard was a perfect partner! And they have a line of furniture called Custom Plus, where you can "Make It Your Own" by supplying your own fabric (Customer's-Own-Fabric, known as COM). After selecting our Schumacher fabrics, Ballard took care of the rest (customs design made easy and affordable!). It turned out beautifully and was so easy to order....take a look at how it all came together below!
We are so thankful for everyone that contributed to this room. We were thrilled to use local Nashville artists Gina Julian (who is our next P+P Art Pop-up artist tomorrow!) and Kayce Hughes, as well as vintage art from Lily Brown. Hunter Douglas provided the bamboo shades which we LOVE (the Power View feature is so convenient!), and Kirsch provided the curtain hardware to hang our beautiful custom drapery. A total showstopper is the Patterson Flynn Martin rug called Emmeline—so gorgeous! And of course, so thankful to Ballard Designs and Schumacher for all the custom pieces!
