one room challenge: before!

We are thrilled to announce that we are taking part in this year's spring One Room Challenge, hosted by Linda with Calling It Home and sponsored by one of our favorites House Beautiful!  This is our first year participating in the challenge and we are SO excited to be included in such wonderful company (see all of our fellow designers linked at the bottom of this post).

Have you heard the saying a "Cobbler's children has no shoes"....well that's pretty much how I feel about the room we've decided to tackle...our guest bedroom.  After spending 6 months gut renovating our 1930's home down to the studs it was all I could do to get the main areas of the house feeling "fairly" pulled together (here).  To say this room has been neglected, would be an understatement. I hate to admit it but...it's become the drop zone for random pieces of furniture that have yet to find their perfect place....not exactly what you expect when you go to a "designer's" home"!  (FYI...Mark D Sikes this is why you have not been invited to stay with us).

Friends, we just have to say "thank goodness" for The One Room Challenge because when you see this blank canvas below, you'll realize how desperately this room is in need of some major love (also...it's important to remember we're friends so please don't judge me based on this room....I can't believe I'm letting ANYONE.... yet alone EVERYONE see this)!

We will be tagging all of our posts with #pencilandpaperoneroomchallenge via Instagram so please follow along with us over the course of the next six weeks and check in on our progress each Wednesday!  Also...spoiler alert...be on the look out because my signature white walls....well...they'll be gone!  I'm trying hard to break out of my comfort zone with this one.  So buckle up for one crazy ride, get excited and let the fun begin!!!
