When we begin a house renovation...... the kitchen is usually the first room that we concept. For me, this space guides the look and feel of the entire home. Last year, when we first began to brainstorm "Project Tyne Blvd", we immediately knew that we wanted to create a kitchen that felt super laid back....but still pretty. A huge part of that for us is to have great natural light and access to an outdoor space. When we purchased Project Tyne Blvd it had no kitchen windows and was super dark. We moved 30 Truck loads of dirt and engineered a retaining wall to create an amazing courtyard off of the kitchen. Lots of energy and budget went into this update....but we love how the kitchen flows right into a great outdoor living space. We kept the cabinetry simple and sophisticated with my favorite Sherwin Williams Repose Gray. We also chose to eliminate upper cabinetry to create a really open and uncluttered feel. We supplemented the main kitchen with an adjacent Butler's Pantry for additional storage space. And the jewel of the kitchen........ is The La Cornue stove. I adore this stove more than words can describe. It's like putting on your favorite statement necklace with a classic white T and well worn jeans. It just makes you feel pulled together.
My husband loves how the La Cornue cooks (which I know is the important part right?) but, I "LOVE" how the stove mixes metals...the perfect combination of stainless and brass. We finished the space off with a cozy banquette for casual dining. And of course brass details..... hardware from "School House Electric" and simple brass pendants from Circa.
